The Cordelia Fire Protection District (CFPD) is pleased to announce that we have formalized an Interim Contract for Service with the Fairfield Fire Department (FFD). Under the agreement FFD will provide all fire, medical, and incident response services within the district. The agreement was finalized last week between the City and District, and provides for an extension if needed, while we complete the required steps to formalize a long-term service agreement.

As residents of the district and members of the board of directors, our top priority will always be to provide for the safety and welfare of the public through the preservation of life, health, property, and the environment. Nationally, the fire service faces staffing challenges and the CFPD is no exception, especially given our unique staffing model employed in the early 2000’s. Starting early January 2023 FFD will respond to 100% of our calls as our last paid staff member departs for his new full time career position with a neighboring city department.

A CFPD Transition Action Plan, which lays out our plan for transition along with all associated activities (e.g. fire prevention services), is being developed.

Should you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me, Director Glen Langstaff, or contact us through our website.  We will continue to serve to maintain the best possible service for our neighbors.

Be safe, be well,
Director Glen Langstaff
